I must admit that I don't like the aesthetics of the new car. I can forgive the inside - it looks more modern, and retro at the same time. I can't foegive the front bonnet, and rear of the car though. Very unMINI. That is just my opinion though :) I am an owner of the previous SE, so I may be biased. This new one is a bit if a porker at 1605kg *without* the driver. The clever electronics hide this up until physics takes over. Another quick thing - the only people who suffer range anxiety are those withour EVs. The media has done a good job there :(. My SE gets 250km tops, and more likely 200 before you would want to charge. Have I ever wanted more range (in almost 4 years of ownership)? Not once. I would actually consider removing some battery to lighten the car. I put on track tyres which decreases the range as well. No anxiety :) Nice review - more please.

Those stripes are not the newest ones. Is there any reason for this? The reason for my enquiry about this is because, I am due to pick up this very car next Friday. I am really excited, but I want the ones that fade out, i.e. the newest style. Are some being sent like this? Great review though. 😁🙌

Mimi... Welcome! Fantastic video and review of what can only be described as one of the best cars available in any class and size. And " boy" have Mini done a fantastic job with the new Mini! Minimalist design, superb quality and features. And yes, that unique and unequalled driving experience. Brilliant! Now ( perhaps) the best small, sporty EV available? Think so! Brilliant! 👌. Ah? Two months ago I purchased the Moderna Grantourismo. This is my third Maserati and last. One and a half weeks later, the transmission failed and the battery light went on. The dealership had the car for two weeks and then delivered it to us. One week later, the same problem occurred. The dealership has had our car for another three or four weeks, trying to figure out what the issue is. They communicated with Maserati in Italy and decided that the entire wiring system needs to be replaced. As of yesterday, I was told that the car was ready after they do some road tests. So in two months, I have had the car for approximately a week and a half. Anna at customer service North America got involved given my displeasure, and offered to reimburse me one month payment despite the fact that after the first incident, I made it quite clear that I felt the car was a lemon and did not want it back. My dealership, who understands my situation also tried to reason with Maserati North America. I have had approximately four phone calls with Anna in Customer service and several demeaning emails where she made it quite clear that she is in charge of my file and a decision would be made about the car after I retake possession of it. Yesterday, the head of Maserati Canada, Robert Sourial was contacted by the dealership and he told my representative that they will in no way consider taking the car back. He refuses to call or discuss the situation with me. The goal of Maserati is to rebrand itself-to stop producing the “cheaper” cars and concentrating their efforts higher-end cars and to build up it’s consumer base with repeat customers. There is a disconnect between Maserati North America and Italy as the North American Section does not back up their cars-they care only about sales with no regard for customer satisfaction or quality. Query as to if Kelly MacDonald is really up for the job as CEO Maserati North America given that her goals differ greatly than that of Italy with respect to the brand. Buyer beware….I will never buy another Maserati given my most recent experience. There are much better brands out there nearing the $300K mark-and with companies that actually care about their brands.

This is the exact model I wanted but unfortunately our company car configurator insists the Sport model comes with horrible 17" 851-alloys (and not the nice 18" 853-style alloys shown here). It says I have to pay £1125 myself to get the 853 alloys which I'm not prepared to do, so I'll have to pick a different car.

I think a few things to caveat. If you're comparing the LCI to the 2019-2022 models, the brake vents didn't change unless you're talking about sans M-Sports package. The M-Sports package and M40i always had brake vents look that way. The biggest changes to the LCI model are: New colors, New Wheels, Redesigned front end, and no longer making available a non-M-Sports package option available. (Previous SDrive 30i models could opt out of the M-Sports package, and also open up additional colors like Mineral White and a dark blue [forgot the name of it]). I had a 2021 SDrive 30i Alpine white with Magma Interior, and now I have a 2024 M40i Portimao Blue with Cognac. It's such a beautiful car and great ride. I'm a very proud owner and ensure I go to as many car meets as I can. Such a rare and striking vehicle. I agree that the rear end being wide and "flat" gives it a great stance on the road. The "wrap-around" tail lights give it such a unique look. VERY large trunk, This is a daily driver for me, and it can do most of everything I need a car to do. Main thing I don't like about the trunk and therefor the spacer between the trunk and cabin is that the speakers are mounted there and heavy bass rattles it around too much. The interior is very beautifully designed, my only complaint is the high-gloss piano black panels in there that aren't difficult to maintain, but you gotta be careful for scratches, cause this kind of material scratches very easy. The V-Spoke satin finish wheels are incredible and I even get compliments from super car owners about them. I do have an issue of some of that satin wearing off and I've only had the car since Oct 2023, and it's June 2024 now.

So what was the consumption?

Totally agree and a great review. I've just picked up my second, and sadly my last M340D. It was the last the dealer was to ever see. They are an amazing car! The demonization of diesel especially from Governments is so short sighted and I agree with Owen MacDonald - what is going on with BMW! Before I ordered the M340D I actually tried ordering a new E Class 450D AMG - the 'Agent' or 'Dealer' (if they are still called that?) was not interested in getting a £90K factory order into the country, and I think Audi (other than SUV) are restricted to 2.0 litre. Good good luck to anyone looking for a fast diesel!

Probably better than the M3 touring in the real world. BMW UK, what are you thinking? No diesel in the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8. I'm sure Audi and Mercedes are happy to pick up the customers that you're letting go.

It’s not going out of production; BMW U.K. have chosen not to offer it for sale. You can still buy one abroad. Lovely cars, a great shame.

I was going to order a new five door with the level 2 pack at £4000 but when I saw the pcp figures it only adds £400 to the value after three years so I’d lose £3600 on this option, without the pack spec is low with no heated seats, privacy glass etc.

It really isn’t a powerful letter at all 😂

Matt. You are absolutely right... PERFECTION! The only car ( anyone) would ever need. Okay, it is a diesel and we know where that is going. However don't write diesel off ... Just yet! Design, practicality, day to day driving.. Driving like no other. Agree with your comments, not least it could be argued as the best designed current BMW. Well done, Matt for bringing this incredible machine to our attention.

I've driven the new Cooper S JCW spec level 2 trim and love the new version. I agree with a lot of the comments posted that it needs the bonnet scoop as a feature of the S and JCW. Also the rear twin exhausts, which I can see the after-market sorting that out and providing conversion kits to shown rear exhausts. I'm waiting for the full spec JCW next year, as I currently drive an F56 JCW. I'm hoping the power is going to increase from the current standard 230 to at least 250bhp or more. Already put my name on the list to test drive the JCW 2025. 🙂

The design is really cool! I bet it will sell well. However, where's the 'real' handbrake??? Aren't people interested in having a little bit of fun with the car anymore? Try re-do some scenes from the Italian job with this latest incarnation... 😂 Good luck! Very good presentation btw... Well done 👏

Matt. As below! Yes You certainly are a superb reviewer! Like us all, Mini has a place in all our hearts. The Icon just became an even stronger Icon. Setting new standards in design and quality in every aspect. The minimalist interior is just amazing. The attention to detail and how it works for the driver. Hasn't lost any of the verve and point and squirt characteristics. And yes has the Mini soul! From every angle, not least the new rear....thank goodness we can bye to those union jack rear lights... awful. This has to be the one to buy for fun everyday driving. Mini at their peak! Love it!
